Гусь свинье не товарищ.

This proverb means that people of different social status cannot be friends. The goose is a smart and intelligent bird and a pig is associated with quite silly and dirty animal.

A goose isn’t a friend to a pig.

Дарёному коню в зубы не смотрят.

This proverb means, that if you get a gift, don’t be critical about it and be grateful.  In old times when people were buying horses they were checking first their teeth as it was an indicator of a good health of it.

People don’t look into the teeth of the horse which was a gift

Скажи мне, кто твой друг, а я скажу, кто ты.

This proverb means that friends usually have the same attitude and vision of life.

Tell me, who your friend is and I will tell you who you are

В гостях хорошо, а дома – лучше.

This phrase means: It is good to be home.

It is good staying as a guest but it is better being at home.

Кто рано встаёт, тому Бог даёт.

This proverb means – Early bird gets the worm.

Who wakes up early, god gives to whom.

Семеро одного не ждут.

That means that if one person is late, the group shouldn’t be waiting for him / her. But if more that one is late it makes sense to wait until all the people will come.

Seven people don’t wait for one.

Лучше поздно, чем никогда.

 

It is better late than never.

Russian idioms

Получить на блюдечке с голубой каёмочкой.

Например

Ты хочешь ничего не делать и получить всё на блюдечке с голубой каёмочкой.

to get something too easy (receive smth. on the saucer with the blue circle border)

Пример

Она очень высокая. У неё ноги от ушей.
