How to say about dates in Russian

For being able to talk about dates you need to know two rules:

  • The first one is  – we always use ordinal numbers for dates. Which means we have to add the ending -ое (or sometimes -ее). For learning more information about ordinal numbers watch here.

первое марта  – the first of March

  • And  another rule is – we have to use the genitive case for names of months which go after dates. Which means that we have to add (or ) to the name of month. If a name of month ends in –ь or – we have to replace it with . If it is any other consonant we’re adding.
